About
Danielle Casós is a mezzo-soprano currently pursuing a Specialist of Music degree at the University of Michigan. She graduated with her Master of Music degree from the University of Michigan in 2023.
Coming up, Danielle will perform as Mrs. Grose in The Turn of the Screw at the University of Michigan in March 2025.
In 2024, Danielle joined the Sanford Studio Artist program at Kentucky Opera, where she performed as Kate Pinkerton in Madame Butterfly and covered the role of Suzuki. In October, Danielle performed as the leading role of Esperanza in the orchestral workshop of The House on Mango Street at the University of Michigan.
During her time at UMich, Danielle has performed several leading roles in main stage productions, including Elizabeth Cree in Elizabeth Cree (2024), Zerlina in Don Giovanni (2023), and Fox in Cunning Little Vixen (2022). Danielle also won the Graduate Division of the University of Michigan Friends of Opera Competition and participated in the winners’ recital in February 2023. Danielle gave her graduate recital in April 2023, Les Oiseaux, featuring songs about 13 different birds in 8 different languages, accompanied with illustrations she commissioned from her sister, Kayla Casós.
In the summer of 2023, Danielle participated in the Bonfils-Stanton Studio Artist program at Central City Opera, where she performed in the ensembles in Roméo et Juliette, Rossini’s Otello, and Kiss Me, Kate. At Central City, she performed scenes from Don Giovanni, Cosí fan tutte, and Die Zauberflöte for their Short Works program. In 2022, Danielle was a Lehrer Vocal Institute Fellow at the Music Academy of the West, where she covered the role of Olga in Eugene Onegin. During her time at Music Academy, she sang in the Marilyn Horne Song Competition, performed in a recital on the music of Tom Cipullo, and performed Ravel’s Chansons madécasses in a Chamber Nights recital.
In 2021, Danielle took a leave of absence from UMich and returned to her alma mater, Utah State University, to originate the role of Older Leah in the world premiere of Uncovered by Lori Laitman with libretto by Leah Lax. During her undergraduate degree at Utah State University, Danielle studied with Dr. Cindy Dewey. She was a winner of the USU Concerto Competition in 2019, won 1st Place in the USU Aria Competition in 2020, and was awarded the Presser Undergraduate Scholar Award in 2020. During her time at USU, Danielle performed as Mother in Hänsel and Gretel (2019), and as Nerone in a movie-style presentation of L’incoronazione di Poppea in 2021. She also won awards Cal-West Regional NATS awards in Upper College Classical and Musical Theatre in 2020.
When she’s not singing, Danielle enjoys spending time with her husband and her two cats, playing video games, enjoying a sour beer, or making a good cup of coffee. She’s currently working as a barista at Roos Roast Coffee in Ann Arbor— stop by, and she’ll make you a heart with her latte art!
